About
The
Catalog
The next tab after My Web Page, is the Catalog tab.
This area is where you can add and modify the products you want displayed on
your site. The Catalog works as a system of categories and subcategories
(also known as a ‘tree’). A good way of understand how to create a catalog
with subcategories is to think of a bookstore. The bookstore (catalog) has a
section about Science (subcategory). In this section, you will find numerous
books about science (product). As a bookstore has many different sections
(subcategories), so might your catalog depending on the items that you sell.
You may create more than one catalog, yet only one can
at a time may be displayed. You may choose a new catalog for different
seasons or for ‘sales events’ you may have. To view a specific catalog,
select it from the drop down on the left. To create a catalog:
1.
Click the ‘Create new Catalog’ button in the top right of the page.
2.
Type the Catalog’s title into the text box
3.
Click on ‘Save Changes’
To add a category or subcategory:
- Click on the ‘Add Subcategory’ button on the right
- Enter a name for the subcategory
- Enter a description for this category (Optional)
- Upload an image for this category (Optional)
- The ‘Enabled’ checkbox allows you to enable or
disable the category. To enable it, make sure to check the box.
From this point on you are able to add products. There
are three ways to create a group of subcategories and products:
- Have a category with no products in it, only a
subcategory (which may or may not have products in it as well)
- Have a category with only products in it, and no
subcategories
- Have a category with products in it, as well as it
having a subcategory (which also may or may not have products in it).
A product must be added to a specific category. Simply
select the category (or subcategory) you wish to place the item in from the
‘tree’ on the left. The tree will give you a list of all your categories. To
expand a category and view its subcategories, simply click on the ‘+’ next
to the category’s name. To contract a category, click on the (-) that will
appear next to an expanded category’s name.
- Click on ‘Add Product’ on the right.
- Fill in all the appropriate fields
- Name-Enter the Product’s name/title
- Short Description-Enter a short description of the
item (up to 225 character long)
- Description-Enter the item’s complete description
- Image- You can upload an image of the product from
your computer by clicking on the ‘Browse’ button and locating it on your
computer.
- Price- Enter the product’s price
- Shipping Type- Select whether you wish to charge
shipping for this item per item or as a flat rate.
- Shipping Price- Enter the shipping price for this
item.
- Taxable-If the item is subject to sales tax, check
the box
- Discountable- If the item is subject to discount,
check the box
- Enabled-If you would like the item to appear on
your site, check the box.
Attributes
If your item has or comes with any additional
attributes then click on the ‘Add Attribute’ button. These product
attributes may incur an additional cost or make the item less expensive.
(ex: a leather trim might add $5.00 to the price while no trim will decrease
the price by $2.00). Simply enter the attribute and from the drop down menu
select how this affects the price. In the last field, enter the difference
in the price. You may add as many attributes as you wish simply by clicking
on ‘Add Attribute’.

Editing
a Product or Subcategory
To edit a product or subcategory, simply make your
selection from the tree, edit the information you require, and select ‘Save
Changes’.
To delete a product or subcategory, select that product
or subcategory, then click ‘Delete Product’ or ‘Delete Subcategory’ from the
buttons on the right.
