One of the most important aspects of website is the visual look and feel of the site online. With the WebCenter you have full control over that aspect of the website. The WebCenter comes loaded with multiple high quality, colorful templates to select from, as well many Color and Font Styles. Unlike the typical re-modeling project, totally changing your WebCenter website takes virtually minutes. With this technology, these options and the flexibility of the WebCenter you have a different website look almost everyday during a month. The best part is you can edit your website 24 hours a day, except for short outages caused by routine server maintenance. In addition, changing the visual look and feel of the website will not change the rest of the content you worked so hard to include. It is recommended that everyone, from the largest company to the individual maintain their own Back-Up of their website on the own computer to protect the integrity of the content.
When accessing a website the first step is to enter the name of the website into your browser. (Example: www.mywebsite.com) Your browser sends a request to the host of that website to send that web page to your computer. Computers are not directly connected to a host server. They send a request, receive a “snapshot” of the website, and are stand-alone until they send another request to that server.
Why is this important?
Let’s say you want to update/edit your website. You can look at it through a
browser and see the page you want to change. When you enter your Web Center and
make changes, then you look at the web page in your browser, the changes do not
appear!
Why?
You have to click Refresh, which tells your browser to go back to the computer that hosts your website and get the new update! In other words, it sends a new snapshot – with your latest changes back to your browser. Now your browser displays the latest version. OK, you already knew this. Let’s move on!
When your website is initially created, it is instantly on the World Wide Web. Now it’s time to go into the Web Center and manage your website; add your very own personal and professional touches, images, and text, and get ready to grow your business on the Internet!
The Web Center is an easy-to-use administrative tool that you can use anytime to modify your website. In a way, it works behind the scenes to update your web pages – this way your website will stay up and running as you make these changes.
What else would you want to add to your website? How about:
· A catalog showing your products or services? With pictures!
· A map to your business (if you want customers to find you).
· Putting your business logo on the home page.
· Adding customer testimonials to your website!
· Adding your own images and photographs to pages.
· Creating Discount Coupon Codes
· Featuring products on your Home Page
· Changing the look and feel of your website pages
· And much more!
As you can tell, finishing your website is important … and easy using the Web Center. The rest of this training discusses the Web Center itself. Let’s get started!
